AUDITIONS FOR THE 2023

MARCHING PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE

Zeke was kind enough to share the practice files he uses for bass drum and created one for each bass drum!  These are files that remove your drum from the sound file so you can insert your own notes in as if you are in the perfect bass section :-).  Hopefully this will help - thank you Zeke!!!

LIVE AUDITIONS

Saturday, May 6: 9:00-4:00

Saturday, May 13: 9:00-4:00

You MUST submit a first round video to be invited to the live auditions!  If you have not completed a first round audition, it is NOT too late - All the info is on the ENTRANCE AUDITIONS page.

I have finally viewed all the videos submitted!  There were many this year so I am about 8 days behind - I usually like to have this up 2 weeks before the first live audition.  The list posted below is all the veterans and incoming rookies (in alphabetical order).

I will keep the directions short and simple so read everything and be prepared!

THE LIST OF MEMBERS AUDITIONING IS NOW UPDATED BELOW!!!  If you do not see your name, PLEASE contact me immediately.  More than likely, I have missed an email or it never got to me.  This year no one was cut from the vudeo submissions.

Since there are some of you that have not been through an audition like this, here is the process.  It is basically like a rehearsal.  We will play through all of the exercises below and the staff will evaluate the members as we play during the day.  We will move people around during the day to see what fits best.  Snare and Tenor rookies, if you are able to bring your drums from high school, please do - that way we don’t have to switch people in and out of drums.

FIRST WEEKEND:   We will begin at 9:00am in room 123 of the Seretean Center this Saturday, May 6.  At that point we will discuss the process and then hook up the drums and start playing.  Have the music with you (or memorized) and we will attempt to help you all with technique issues and  rhythmic problems.  And yes, we will mark time on all of these except Monkeybles, Bluelight and Martian Mambo.

SECOND WEEKEND:   The schedule will be the same.  We will rehearse through the day until 4:00 (at the latest - if we can make decisions earlier, we will). At this time we will announce the final results.
