Music Majors (and non-majors wanting to apply for scholarship): Percussion scholarship auditions for students interested in majoring in music will occur on Saturday, February 7, 2009. All students should plan to perform solos on the following instruments:
Of course, all state audition material can be used if you desire, but I do encourage all auditionees to try to learn something new on timpani and keyboard. There are MANY other solos that can be used - the above are just common suggestions for students to consider.
In addition, knowledge of rudiments, scales, and timpani tuning is helpful. Sight reading on snare and keyboard will also be given. Marching Band Only: Percussion students wishing to audition for the OSU Marching Band should contact Wayne Bovenschen via email or call (405)744-8983 to set up an audition sometime during the months of February and March. This first audition will consist of a prepared solo on one of the following instruments:
Knowledge of rudiments or scales and sight reading will also be tested. Results from the first round of auditions will be mailed out with final audition material in early April. The final audition for the 2009 OSU Marching Percussion Ensemble for those who pass the first round will occur on Saturday, April 25 & May 2, 2009 from 9:00am to 4:00pm .
